We used a lot of aerial mapping and tried desperately to find our way into some of the more remote stuff . What looked to be an easy task turned into more driving than we wanted because of new roads and crappy maps. Areas that looked good on aerial were often freshly cut and not as good as the pics we were working from and turned out to be a wash. We actually stomped the woods for several hours and spent several more out in the cuts glassing and calling. I know that my old knees are happy to be home  ;) By the end of the weekend we narrowed that unit to a couple of really good locations and I'm pretty confident that backwoods will be pulling a bear out of there before it's all said and done. We learned a lot and had a great time. I wish I could go on his next trip.

that pic with your feet up, looks like my views half the time when I bear hunt.

If you want a for sure way to find a bear...take a nap...when you wake up, one is usually in sight.

Usually works for me... :chuckle:
