And it kicks ass. I'm going to need a lot of ammo laying around. This thing is fun. Time to get some dies then have lead and brass massed up.

Yeah. Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter in .44 Mag. Stainless Steel. I might have gotten a Bisley .45 LC but they never had it in stock and I don't like ordering stuff. I usually just buy what's there.

Need to get a scope next. But even without the scope it's sure a good shooting piece. I took one of the trigger springs off the back and it made the trigger really light. I like that.

This is the best pistol I have ever had.

I love this pistol.  Always wanted a Ruger .44 mag.  Gotta love it.  I sold Rugers in a small town hardware store for several years.  One day, a guy I know came in and ordered a Ruger Redhawk 44 mag with a 9" barrel.  He came in almost every day to see if UPS had delivered it yet.  I rememmber how that gun felt in my hand.  It was heavy, but balanced.  I thought about how I'd feel good in Alaska with that piece strapped to my leg.  I rolled one of those huge bullets between my fingers...man!  He came in that evening after work and I played with his mind a little.  He was really stoked.  He offered to let me shoot it, but we never hooked up.

Someday I'll buy that gun, if they still make them.  Congrats on yours.  Gotta love a hog leg like that!

Beautiful pistol there huntwa! I'm gonna have to check one out. I've got a couple of Ruger Vaquero 45 long colts.

They look great

I went up by your neck of the woods to Kesselrings. That's got to be one of the finest darn gun shops on the west side of the state.

Ya, I spend a little money there from time to time! Are you planning on doing a little hunting with that thing? What are you considering putting on it for a scope? I'm serious about taking a look at one, it's a fine looking pistol. Congrats!

I might hunt some animals (bear or deer) with it if the situation is right. More than likely a bear if I can sneak close enough and get a bead on one. I have not considered what I want to use for a scope yet. If I had 2 of those .45 LCs I'd be happy too. I like that grip on that stainless one you have. I might try that out.

That stainless 45LC is the Ruger "New Vaquerao" and the grips are a lot thinner than the wood grips. Really fits in my hand well. I'm looking for similar grips to replace the wood ones on the other Ruger 45LC. Eagle Grips makes some they call the "Gunfighter" grips that are thinner a lot like those on that stainless.

How close are you figuring for a shot on a bear with that smoke wagon? Have you killed a few bear? Seems like I got that impression on here someplace.

Not sure how close I can get. I've never taken a bear. I have seen them around but never bothered to try and take one until last year which I was unsuccessful at.. I figure I would like to be within 30 yards but life is not so that I can be accomodated by an animal  :chuckle:

I might have to go searching for those Eagle grips and try them out.

congrats on the new rig, huntwa. i have a blackhawk in my safe right now in 357 mag i'm trying to talk a guy out of. it needs a little cosmetic work, but i'd be into getting it done if i can give the right money for it.
