does it have open sights on it already? Without a front sight a peep is really not gonna work. Now a red dot, would work for close range stuff.

Thanks guys for the perspective. I will go with an entry-level scope. I also have a discount available on a Leupold for Hunter's Ed.
You can barrow a scope form one of your other rifles, you just need a mounts. Rr buy a Simmons for about $30 bucks at Wally world (walmart). Other wise get a Redfield or Leupold.
