Thanks. I wll be putting in for the Desert tag again until i draw it. That was an awseme hunt. Bucks were running everywhere. I even had the first time experience of grunting in a nice 22" 4x4 from 200+ yards to 43 yards. I was half way to full draw when he looked over and saw me. Game over. Saw another hog 26" 3x3 with 15" G2's. 60 yards but he wouldn't stick around for the shot.

The does were extremely spooky. Even with the ideal stalking conditions, soft sand and all. I found out why on the way out the first day. Two week old cougar kill. 22" forky with 10" deep forks. Beams were like bananas all the way up. Packed it out.

As i didn't see any of the really really big dogs on the first day i decided i would shoot watever would let me get close enough. Saw this one from 300 yards. walked over to where he was standing and he had disappeared. Flat as a pancake as you can see in the picture. No where to hide. Oh crap he is right there behind that one big sage bush. Ranged him at 52 yards drew back he stepped out broadside. Released right as he was sensing my presence. To late blew right through his aorta. pass through. he went 20 yards. What a thrill that hunt was .

If any body else draws that hunt let me know i will tell you where i found all the deer.

how many points did you have?  got a bunch and trying to figure out a good hunt to apply for.  Spent the last four years in Oregon so just getting my head back in this state for deer permit hunts.

I applied for 6 years for the rifle and then once they switched the archery hunt to november i started applying for that. took another three years. So nine years. i think i could have drawn the archery sooner if i had been applying for that from the get go. It was worth the wait.

I just wish i could draw An elk tag. 12 stinking years and counting. Anybody have any ideas on a hunt that is worth 12 years(points)?
