North Fork Bullets no more.
« on: August 12, 2008, 04:43:55 AM »
Called to order some bullets from North Fork a couple of days ago and got a recording saying that they are out of business. Man, that really bums me. I've shot them in my .300 WBY and my Lazzeroni Warbird for the last seven years and they have been the very best bullet I've sent down the tube of either weapon.
Has anyone else on the site used these bullets and what did you think of them? I've taken everyting from whitetails to moose and bison. Plus a few bears. These bullets have always performed flawlessly and have been the the most accurate of all the bullets that I have reloaded with. Anyone else??

My boss shoots them quite often out of his 300RUM.. He loaded a few for me in 30-06, never got around at shooting game with them. He always had the best things to say about them/

Mike closed up shop the beginning of this year.

Very unfortunate, since Mike's North Fork bullet line was and is some of the most accurate and best-performing true premium big game bullets that has ever been produced. They also have a stellar reputation in Africa,  and with everyone who has used them on big game anywhere!

I wish an established company (Federal.... Hornady..???) would step up and acquire NF as it's a shame to see them off the market.

I still wish Winchester would redeem them selves after ditching the Fail Safe. For anything bigger than deer, I dont know how you could do better , maybe excepting weldcores, or a-frames or the north forks.

does anyone have any good contacts at sierra, hornady, or federal to see about suggesting such an investment in american products.

Not sure on their reasoning for ditching the Fail Safe..... but didn't (and still doesn't) seem like a wise decision.

Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

Accubonds aren't even in the same league as Fail Safes. I can't speak for the e tips though.
