3 D targets, What do you do to get ready for hunting season

got all of our 3 D targets out, and had a great time playing. Now to set pins for different shots so we can score against each other. I Love shooting 3 D targets, Ended up with about 6 different options to shoot on the elk from both sides, some wide open and some with brush. The hardest target for me is the wood chuck that dang thing likes to chuck my arrows   Although the Raccon can be deceaving as well.
We use to take a block with us in the woods, then stop throw it out and shoot 4 or 5 arrows see who got the most bulleyes and then go for a little more of a drive. I called it scouting and shooting, made it fun and interesting.

 What do you do to rev up and practice for our up coming season?

I try to go every 3-d shoot that i can year round.  Never put the bow down always trying to improve. I did the shoot and scout one year and my target rolled a long ways down the draw. It was a good workout too.

I completely stay away from 3-Ds, and shoot safari or field target rounds. I also shoot dots from all possible angles and elevations. Most of all I just shoot my best 10 shots everyday I shoot. Sometimes that's at blank bales, sometimes that's at Carp, and most of the time its with a bow..haha.

I would like to go, but dont know if im at the caliber of the guys that go them.  Do they break it up by skill level in 3D shoots?

Shoot with your buddies.....you can just shoot the shoot for fun, you dont have to compete.

dont worry about the other guy or gal, I found when I started everyone helped me out, I learned quick and yes most of the shoots you just go with your freind, best bud ect then sometimes they put you with others at your point level. At first this made me uneasy because I was a little dependent on my husband but it made me a stronger shooter. We haven't been to the shoots in a while because we made up our own, with 7 targets not big but good enough. I miss the shoots and meeting new people so this year my hubby promised wed go to at least one.

2 day shoots they flight you by like scores day 2.   BUT, you can still just shoot with friends, but by dropping out of a flight, you drop out of competition......no trophies.

Seth you ever shoot at whidbey island bowmen?   They put on a few good 3-D during the year.

No I never did.  I used to be a member there as well, but let my membership run out.  Nothing against the club, just not really convient for me to shoot there as much as I wanted...
