I use the 20 grain tnt fmj or a 17 grain vmax. The vmax doesn't frag like a hollow point.

Depends on what your trapping. A .22 is good enough. But if you are to scared to get close to them a low powered rifle will work fine. I guess a 243 has more than enough power.

I cannot even imagine the time when I would use something as big as a .243 to dispatch an animal in a trap. 22 magnum is too much.

 :yeah: a good 22 will take about anything in a trap, add a scope and you can sit back and pop'em
