Wolf(s) in the Nile area?
« on: July 03, 2012, 06:09:18 PM »
Last weekend when the wife and I went to pull trail cams, she was looking in the woods for animals as she usually does and saw what she swears was a wolf.  I asked are you sure it was not just a large coyote and she said not its was big and had a huge head.  I had a set of the regs and had her look at the difference between the two and she said definitely a wolf.

I wouldn't doubt it, be sure to report it to wolf Hotline  Had a Buddy see what he sure was a Wolf  at close range 2 yrs ago deer season over in the Wenas side And Warden was extremely interested but also skeptical

Just remember how far wolves can travel when they want--one went from Montana to Colorado and back to Montana, the OR-7 wolf went from northeast Oregon to almost the coast and then down to norther California.

I reported tracks up by clover springs, sent pics of them also.  Have heard of them all the way down into Nile flats chasing deer.

I heard that there was some WDFW bios doing a night study and heard wolf howls, and it was heard the same night from another friend that lives up there.  just past Wenas lake 4-5miles.

I know hunters aren't the only ones thinking about the possibility of wolves in that area anymore. There's a system of trail-cams with lure set up to try and capture some photos..........
Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

It was the opening morning of elk season in 2004 when I was hunting trhe south side of the Devil's Table and I saw two wolves tracking a cow elk.

This I promptly reported to the WDFW the following Monday.

I was hunting with several other guys and told them about it.  The WDFW guy at first said "They're not ours."

Interesting comment. Then he acknowledged finally that there had been some wolf reports up in that area.

My humble opinion is that the WDFW has known about these animals for a very long time.

And as with mountain lions, I suspect there are a hell of a lot more of them than the WDFW admits / estimates.

Is this a pretty close location to where you seen them?
