We're less than a month away from the Columbia River Bowfishing Tournament that's held in Boardman. This shoot is put on by the Oregon Bowfishing Association. Neil down there does a great job putting on a quality shoot! If you haven't shot that area before, it holds a ton of fish. Last year a single boat managed to bring in 1000 lbs to the scale. The tournent will be a "big 20" format, which presents a great opportunity for shooters with smaller boats. Teams up to 5 guys. You can find the rules and registration forms at Oregonbowfishing.com.
Also... Even if tournaments are not your thing. Saturday, August 11th (4:00 pm) we'll be weighing in fish at the Boardman marina. Stop by and take a look. Neil's also made arrangements with the Bowfishing Shack (bowfishing equipment supply) to be on hand selling gear. It'd be a great time to pick up those items you can't find locally. You also can contact him online and prepurchase and he'll bring it to the tournament.
Lastly, some of us WBA guys will be putting on another Bowfishing seminar on at Ranch and Home, Saturday August 4th. It's intended to give the beginner a real idea of what it takes to put lots of fish in the boat, without losing or breaking gear. It usually just turns into a Q & A, Which We enjoy!
Good luck in the heat with your shooting. Aim lower!
