Straight out of the Marine Corps Sniper Manual, compensating for CANT is critical to accurate long distance shooting: At 1,000 yards, 6 degrees of CANT (visualized as 1 minute on a clock; and completely undetectable to the naked eye) moves the point of impact 55 inches from the point of aim. That's a total miss on most game we hunt here in the western states... most game anywhere for that matter.Obviously it's much more pronounced the farther away the target and amount of CANT each person naturally holds, but is clearly another factor to compensate for (when shooting long distances anyway). And most people subconsciously CANT the gun without even knowing it.
