so i was up I'm my spot fishing for cut trout with my trout pole  and i was slaying them using a small bright pink corky and worms. i get the biggest bit i have ever felt, i set the hook and I'm fighting this fish and i start bringing it in and its a steelhead about 10 feet from the bank it turns  and starts run and then POP my favorite and only trout pole snaps my 4 pound line breaks off and I'm standing there looking at my pole just blew up in front of me. i about cryed I'm still upset about it so I'm out of a trout pole and i didn't even catch the fish that ended my pole. its a sad day :cryriver:

its my first time breaking a fishing pole i hope this wont be a constance thing i broke 2 tips off knifes last week so I'm crossing my fingers it wont happen with fishing poles.

I think I can sympathize.

I was fishing this weekend with my son.  Every year we take an annual trip for flyfishing.  We got out to get gas and then I hear my son in angst.  He managed to snap the tip off my 5 wt sage in the truck door.  He felt worse than I did.  Ultimately we had a great great fishing trip.  The rod can be repaired.

What brand was your fishing rod?

I break fishing poles all the time. It sucks :bash: The thing that really sucks is that all of my rods are expensive  :bash: It happens. In fact, I have a rod that is at the fishing shop right know, that is getting repaired. Not much you can do though  :dunno: It is even worse for me when I think about. I just have to move on.

I hate to say that I have not yet snapped a pole, well not because of a big fish anyway. I have snapped a tip off but now I carry a repair setup. Great story though I hope you have to tell another in the future, beats the heck out of the fished all day and nothing stories.  :chuckle:

They say bad things happen in three's.  You should be good for a while now it sounds like

Hate it when I break a favorite rod.  Even worse when it cost you a fine fish.  An old fishing mentor of mine used to say, "That's what happens when you forget to pay homage to the fish gods before getting your hooks wet."  He always carried a hand full of Cheetos in his fishing vest.  At the start of each days fishing he would hold them up to the sky and then set them gently in the water.  Followed by an excited, "OK, let's catch some F(*&ing fish!"
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I lost a rod over the weekend myself. I was trolling for walleye with braided line and I got snagged. I was holding the rod at a weird angle and my wrist got bent back and the rod just flew out of my hand! :yike: It was about a $200 setup. Yes I'm a little upset about it, but what are ya going to do? :dunno:

I blame your "limp-wristed" fishing style  :chuckle: :chuckle: We had a real comedy of errors going there for a while but at least we got some good fish out of it!

it was an older 7 foot fishing pole, no name on it but i slayed cut troat with it every time i went out.  it just gives me an excuse to go up and buy a new one and ya i know its salmon fishing but i love steelhead lol i feel a little better now about it, but its up on the wall now, and not everyone can say they broke a trout pole because of a  steelhead.

$200  :o You tell me right were it is, and I will just go scuba for it, except I live a ways from any walleye  :P
