Electric Bike
« on: July 08, 2012, 10:23:01 PM »
Anybody use one of these for hunting?  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ezip-Trailz-Men-s-Electric-Bike/15773448

I know most all of the roads are marked "no motorized vehicles," but then I read about this federal law on another hunting forum that says its considered a bike and not a motorized vehical. http://www.x-tremescooters.com/techdocs/adobe/e-bicycle-fed-regulation.pdf

Got me wondering if it is really legal in WA.  I dunno, sure would be sweet to have but would kind of feel like cheating.  What are your thoughts

The one in the link only has a range of 15-22 miles on a full charge, I bet that is on flat paved road. I ride farther then that every day durring deer season, in hilly rough gravel roads. I havent seen a electric bike made to take the pounding of rough roads, I bet it would be expensive.

Yeah that was one of the cheaper models.  Would have to spend about $1000 bucks for a decent lithium battery operated bike to get more miles.  I see that you can also buy a conversion kit for about the same to turn your own bike into an electric bike.  Here is one that might last for a while and it's only 10k :o http://optibike.com/  I think I'll stick with a bike that is powered by my legs.
