Wild pigs at wynochee
« on: August 13, 2008, 01:58:22 PM »
Back 2000 / 2001 there were reports of wild pigs around the Wynochee valley.  Does anyone know if there still pigs out there?

Last year or year before Washington State had a long open season on pigs up there. No limit, long season, pretty much wanted to eradicate them from the area. Don't know if they made a come back or still around at all. Someone that lives out there will have accurate to date data. Mike

Me and my buddies were thinking of going over there to hunt hogs but we contacted some people at WDFW and local shop owners and were told that WDFW brought in a pro hunter from Tennessee or somewhere and got rid of them.  I don't know how much truth there is to it but from what I am told there have not been any sightings in quite a while.

There were only a few pigs (might still be) but they were never a problem and there was never a hired gun after them.

I'v spent a lot of time up there and never seen a pig. :dunno: I know someone that shot one when we first started hearing about them, but I have not herd of anyone seeing a pig in years. I work up there alot and still have people stop me to ask if i've seen any hogs.

By reading all the post here and the link that russ sent, it seems that the hogs have been wiped out or reduced to a very low count and not worth going after.

Thanks for the info

I grew up running around the wynoochee and never personally saw any of the pigs. A few of the guys at the local gun shop saw a few of them and I think one of them actually shot one. Don't remember it looking like a wild hog you would find in the south though, looked more domesticated. I spent allot of free time one year looking for these guys too...My buddy and I found some wallows out near 88 canyon (about middle of the valley) but as far as we could tell it was from some free range animals from a farm about a 1/2 mile away.
