A wolf pack has long been suspected to range through the area known as The Wedge, a triangular section of northern Stevens County between the Kettle and Columbia rivers.

How funny, they have been supplied trailcam photos of wolves taken on both sides of the GMU at about the same time. There are at least 2 packs in this area, one pack near McIrvins near Orient on the westside and one pack on the eastside near Northport.

Here's photo of the wolves near Northport from the other pack on the opposite side of the unit.

Have hunted the area from Laurier, up around Summit Lake,  Rockcut, Sand creek, Pierre Lake, down through Mcnitt Rd for  many years, and in the last 3 years the deer numbers seem to have PLUMMETED!

As you must know then, many of those areas are exactly where the wolves hang out. Last summer a dump truck driver broke down and had at least 4 wolves moving around him howling, that was near Summit Lake.
