Thanks Jackmaster.  Those are eastside crawdads, and probably the biggest I've ever found.  It's always nice when they are big enough to eat the claw meat

I was carp shootin up crab creek near moses lake a couple years ago and we saw TONS of them! I have been there many times, but have never saw so many before. When I would stomp on the bank near an overhang on the crick, dozens would swim out from under it. Lots of little ones, but alot of bigguns too Might be a good place to go if a guy wanted some.

I second the zatarans crab boil!  I've eaten them without it and will never do that again.  Those are some monsters!  What do you use for bait?  I seem to have more success wading and turning over rocks.  Maybe it is a bait issue.

We've found that fresh, oily bait works well.  Salmon heads/carcasses work.  I haven't used bacon yet, but I hear it works as well.  I've used trout that I found buried under a pile in the freezer and it worked as well. 

I've found that if you let the traps set out overnight you'll have more success.  Mud bugs are more active at night.

Today I saw a kid dip net 6 out of Lake Stevens in 10 minutes using a chunk of hot dog on his fishing line hook and luring them out from under the cement wall in the swimming area.

Who can answer this question. While driving through town (Raymond) I saw a pickup with about fifty crawdad traps in the back of the truck. Can you get a permit to put that many traps out in the creeks. Saw this truck up mill crk later that afternoon, must have been putting the traps out.

It depends on the body of water. The state has a list of said waters that can be commercially harvested for crawdads and the # of pots allowed on those waters 0 to 400 in some waters but the average seems to be 100 to 200 pots  on large lakes and more on the Columbia. I checked into doing this last year it actually takes big $$$$ in licences and bonds to be able harvest and sell your catch I think it was about $15,000 or so to get it started as a going concern. Google Terry Bullard he is the crawfish king in the NW he pioneered it in the early 80's and actually made millions at it, he is now retired and makes the best traps around from his home I believe in the kettle Fall area.
