High Country Mulie and Black Bear
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:41:28 PM »
went out this last saturday for a little high buck scouting trip. I glassed this guy down the ridge about 6-800 yards away. Tried to get a little closer to make out his points/width and he wasnt fooled at all. but I got alittle bit of an idea now. He isnt the biggest buck and i think Id pass on him untill later in the season. I glassed for awhile but never saw any other bucks with him but i suppose they might be there. I'd take the bear though as long as it wasnt 90 degrees like it felt like up there.

the buck was 7100 ft or so ,he was slightly above me. but the bear was probably about 6500 or less he was below me pretty steep and I guess over 500 yards away. hard to say I didnt hike down to the bear. He was out in the open for about twenty minutes then he dissapeared into the timber

Nice finds, I bet that bear was looking for some shade.

Love early scouting, now if they would just stay there for opening day.
