good on you for sticking to your guns. lots of people just crack open the little nickel and grab the first one they see without any research whatsoever- thats some high stakes gambling IMO. I know because I have done it.

And I can see why folks end up with back yard breeders ,because a lot of breeders are not customer friendly. I think that many breeders are the cause of backyard breeders.

But you know if I find the pup I want, the color I want , the health certs and other things I listed and it is AKC limited Reg. I am not going to care to much. Because I am tired of being attacked as a lower life form by some of the breeders I have talked too.

what are these breeders doing that is offending you? :dunno:

even though it can be a real pain in the butt at times, I appreciate a breeder that is selective about who they are selling a puppy to. it shows they give a rip about what they are doing. although I have met a few that are completely over the top.

I tell you what I have talked to about 25 since I started this and about five have been decent folks. I have to say Bob Morris at Cougar Mountain is one the most user friendly I have talked too.

I must be getting my share of over the top. I have no problem with a breeder that wants to protect his blood line. I have said many times I have no intrest in breeding a pup. But the folks who want you to spell out what the dog will be doing every minute of the day, how many folks live in your  house, how many kids, what happen to your last dog, do you own cats, how many cars pass your house each day,how big is your yard, do you rent or own, have you ever put a dog in a open bed pick up?? (No) Why do you want dew claws removed, you have to feed this food, fill out this form and we will decide if you are worthy.  :yike: :yike: :yike: :bash: :bash: :bash:

A friend of mine who retired from Shell wanted a border Collie. The breeder told him to his face he was too old for a Border collie.
He called up a big time Kennel in California jumped on a jet and bought his Border Collie. That dogs lives better than I do. Gets to go every where and has the best of care.

And than they want you to charge you top dollar "(but its not about the money)" oh ya , we will name the dog for you.

Nuts.

those questions don't seem that out of line or unreasonable. more like par for the course and what I have come to expect from legit breeders.

Theres lots of legit breeders not using these. They serve no purpose because there is no way to confirm the information. its fluff.

if its in a contract they want that fluff to use legally against you after the fact if something goes wrong so they will be able to take the dog from you. I would imagine.

we just adopted an old cat from a rescue. you want to talk about fluff! I am pretty sure I signed less paperwork when I bought my house. by the time they were done with me I wouldn't have been surprised if they wanted to know how many times a day I took a dump and in what proximity to the cats scratching post.
its a bunch of useless stuff, but they make sure all their bases are covered if anything comes up and they want the animal back.

Talking to a guide in the south of WA. He has one female left from a litter at 10 weeks old. She meets all the requirements on my list except she is not as light as I would like and she is 10 weeks instead of 8 weeks. Everything else is good.

A lot of learning happens in two weeks. He sent photos of her in water and introduced to birds. What do you think 10 weeks too old? Also of her parents on goose hunt trips. Breeding is good and other folks are swearing by her litter mates. She was the smaller dog in the litter but is good size. ??
Dont know.

not a lot of folks would turn down a good pup for being ten weeks old instead of eight. quite a few would prefer a pup that got to spend more time with mom.

you also got to remember a light colored pup will mostly likely darken up a little bit as it matures.
