I don't see anything on the website I recognize. Including any health clearances. They appear to have 4 litters on the ground at the same time which raises a negative eye. "Most" folks who are responsible breeders are proud to advertise the health clearances for hips, elbows, eyes, EIC and CNM. I wouldn't pay more than $250 for a pup from parents without GOOD results of each of those tests.

The other thing that bothers me. Look at the dog photos under Girls & Boys.

What do you see that sticks out.

Yeah, I noticed it looks like they live on chains tied out to trees and apple boxes...

Ad for the day

AKC YELLOW & BLACK LABS
STRONG HUNTERS
BOTH PARENTS ON SITE
550.00

My questions:

Have the parents been hunted?

A> Oh yes we turn them out in the yard every day and they chase rabbits and song birds. :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:

Are they papered?

A> No there is too much fraud in the AKC so we stopped doing that.

Are the dew claws removed?

A> No we have never had any problem with dew claws in the back yard.

Any health certs?

A> No the vets charge to much for that.

All their tails are up.

My lab never lifted her tail above her spine.
I do not think that is natural. But i am not a breeder.

I can not hunt behind a dog and look at its hole all day.

Just me.

No, nothing wrong with a happy tail....gay tails disqualify them(curled)

Nice add though....$550 with zero clearances, declaws not removed and probably not even with all their shots up to 8 weeks.....idiots.. You charge people that kind of money because you ARE spending part of that cost on dewclaw removal and vet visits....

The  colof of the paint job should be the least of your worries IMO.I'd take a pink pup with purple markings out of a breeding of two stemwinders that hunt hard, have zero quit, were easily trained themselves and biddible, over one with the perfect shade of whatever color your heart desires.Old dogs go,it's impossible to replace them in appearance and color, try as you might your only going to get close..................... maybe. The best chance for finding exactly what you had is to hope that the breeder still has offspring of the original pair in the breeding program.

Good luck man. I know I looked forever for a pup. I just wanted a pet so after getting really nervous thinking about spending over 2k for a pup (that includes military discount,) I was put in contact with a breeder that wanted to get rid of a sweet 4 yr old that fit the bill almost exactly. (She was 3 3/4 years older than I was searching for at the time.) She turned out to be a perfect sweetheart. I know how bad it sucks when you're finally ready. Research and see pups everywhere! Decide to buy and it's a puppy desert for what you want.  :sry:

So true. But you hunt them maybe 60 days a year. The rest of the time you got to look at them.
This is my last go around so I want to savor it. I wont find a perfect match to what I had but I think I can get close maybe even better. Also a grand is my limit less even better.
The puppy market for labs has changed a lot in 13 years. Now litters are gobbled up before the seed is in the promise land. One gal has 8 reserves on a litter that will not be born till September. :yike:

Its all about timing and keeping your name out there that you are looking. Sooner lor later it will happen.

My first pup I got about 15 years ago.  I put a deposit down because there was a good likelihood that there would be some yellows (and I really wanted a yellow).  Turned out to be all blacks, but I ended up getting a black one instead of the yellow that I wanted.  He was an awesome companion and good hunter.........I miss him every day now that he's gone; I'm glad I decided not to hold out for a yellow, but I can certainly understand holding out if that is what you really want. :twocents:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Oh ya there are a ton of excellent black dogs. I have several friends all have blacks. Guess I like being just a little different.
When it comes to the gene pole you cant do any better than black labs.
