Might be a dumb question but why register an altered dog?

I'm wondering the same thing.  Personally, I wouldn't even register an unaltered dog unlees I intended to use the dog for breeding..

That makes sense..  I didn't remember it being a reqirement.  It's been a long time since I've entered a dog in any hunt tests.  Good luck with your dog. :)

I was more than a little upset with the guy who bought a pup from me for cutting the cooter out of his dog that he is going to field trial with, the thing that upset me the most was that he claimed she was the best dog he's owned in 40 years.Quality females in performance are not that easy to come by IMO.

I am not that interested in Hunt Tests. But it is good way to keep the dog tuned up in the off season.
In the end my goal is to hunt with her, but I wanted to keep the hunt test option open.
My son has a lab 2 months younger and he wants to do some tests with his first dog. So we plan to make it a father son thing.

Also if you like your breeder it is a good way to help them out some. If you get some titles in Hunt tests, the breeder can point to your dog and say thats what my dogs can do. I appreciate my breeder turning out quality pups and still being grounded on this planet.
Some of the breeders I came across before finding Ireland farms where not on this planet with their rules and requirements.

She's looking good. It looks like her color has gotten lighter as she's aged.

Well she looks better in the boat. And relaxed.

We took a cruise around the lake she bailed once, but soon decided that wasn't what she expected. I drug her back in and she was relaxed the rest of the trip.  We did some marks off the boat launch. She is a powerful swimmer. Once I get a boat ramp we will start marks out of the boat.

Excellent.

Making great head way now.
She is just over 9 months old now.

Right on!  She looks great and glad she's figuring out the boat.  That's a important thing to learn about.

My girl will get introduced to a sneak boat I picked up in the off season soon.  Might be a little different experience for her since we are closer to the water.  That's part of the fun though.

Carpet samples work great in the bottom of the boat.  They will help keep her warm rear end off the cold metal and gives a little better gripping surface to stand on.
