Cant tell from the last two respones what you will expect. Maby you two can be more specific or is it a good area and your trying not to have more people over there.
How many people?
Deer population? Buck to doe Ratio?
How bad are the roads?
Any trailheads to go in at etc?

Its really not that bad maybe 10-15 hunters per creek 1st-5th
Deer population?
Buck to doe Ratio? 15+ or- bucks per 100 does
How bad are the roads?
The roads are good
Any trailheads to go in at etc
Get up into first creek before light and sit down the bucks will be there.
Good luck!

A young man shot a dandy up there last year. Actually there were 5 of them and 3 were really nice animals. Got into bucks nest I guess. I'll see if I can find that picture. Since my computer crashed, I am having trouble finding where my files are or if they exist.

my brother was up there bear hunting the first of this month and said the deer numbers were really low as compaired to most years. I will be heading over in oct for a few days to fill the boys youth doe tag and see about a buck.

Its that way all over the valley. Its going to be a REAL piss poor year, and I am not just saying that to keep people away. Quite frnakly I picked the worst year ever to draw a tag.

I agree. However I'm not sure its going to get any better in the near future without large changes in management

Like I said the other day Methow is going to have a really rough year. Tons of deer died over the winter not to mention the predator issues.
May just have to go hunt ID this year.

I go over there for early archery every year with my son manly to just get him out and hunt. The last 3 years have progressively gotten worse and worse. Although last year we saw 23 bucks on the 1st morning .The problem was there was only 1 legal buck in the bunch.....When i started going over there 4 years ago my son and i counted 300+deer from mazama to winthrop from the road. The last 2 years it was less then 50.Dont know whats going on over there, but it has definatly gone down hill.....

Could be predators, poaching, or poor management.
