Badlands hunting pack 2200 on sale at camofire.com
« on: July 15, 2012, 03:45:09 PM »
I just bought it for 169.00 after shipping, I have 3 other packs but always wanted a badlands pack. I did some quick research on that model and it seems like a very versatile pack, any thoughts from you guys about this one?

I have one and think it is a great pack overall.  Lots of storage and is perfect for a day or two in the woods.  Only complaint is I have had a few zippers break, but I sent the pack in and Badlands fixed them.  Also, I am a smaller framed guy and getting the waist to cinch up tight can be a hassle.

Thanks, I'm excited to try it out as soon as I get it. How is it on your back when your hiking? My other packs make my back sweat like crazy, hows it do with ventilation?

Congrats on the purchase! You got a good deal and I am sure you will be happy with it

As for the heat.... well that depends on you, your past experience, the conditions you will use it etc.... In the strictest sense of the word the 2200 is probably not the pack of choice if lots of circulation is your main concern.

:twocents:  the ventilation of a pack although popular is very low on my list of priorities for a daypack, or any pack for that matter. I hunt and scout all summer wearing the 2200 and have tried a host of other packs as well. Some offered better circulation than the 22, but didnt carry as well, or weren't as functional for me. As was stated earlier be aware of overstuffing the side pockets. Hopefully BL has fixed that issue with the zippers, but they have been great about replacing the ones I have had a problem with.

Good Luck with the pack!! Hope it works great for ya!

I wouldn't say the ventilation is great, my back sweats while packing in.  You are going to sweat no matter what if you are having to exert yourself at all while packing in.  The pack is very comfortable and carries weight very well I think.

got mine in the mail today, its a little bigger then i thought it was by the picture. but ive barely scratched the surface of this pack by looking at it. but so far what i have to say is day back my ash. this thing is twice the size i thought a "day" pack should be. i thought the aluminum support bars would be a little stronger but i was easily able to hold my 200 pound dad hanging on it because of the way its designed. the really cool part about this pack is the way you can access the inside of the pack through both sides of the pack, the inside where your back goes as well as the out side like a pack normally opens. so if you have stuff strapped to the outside you can still take your pack off and get to your stuff. other then that it seems like a good pack. and i dont see any crappy zippers. some are waterproof ones, but most are decent zippers. :twocents:
