why would you even take a dog bear hunting.Unless you are hound hunting,why?hiking before season I could see it..

Most likely yeah, the dog is just in the vehicle and he sees a bear between grouse hunting spots. Or what if he wants to carry some slugs in his pocket while grouse hunting in case he sees a bear? (or a 44 mag).
