Brewster Bears
« on: August 13, 2008, 12:27:14 PM »
I know there are quite a few bears up around Winthrop, Mazama, etc.  I'm just curious if there are any huntable (decent) areas near Brewster.  The wife and I were thinking of hitting the salmon first thing in the morning at the Brewster pool and then heading into the hills after a bruin.

Are we just better off driving the extra mileage?

Appreciate any info...

I should specify that the focus of my post is to figure out if there's a quick place to hunt on our way back to Cashmere.  A logging road, a close by area of cuts, etc.  I've looked over the topos and it seems like there are a couple  promising places on the way to Twisp.

Good lucking finding a bear near Brewster, I graduated High School from there. Not alot of State land, and low bear numbers. Above Malott  (in the Chiliwist) is on fire right now as we speak. There was also a fire about a month ago that quite a bit of land. It your looking for bears I would drive up Antone Creek above Manson, just passed lake chelan.. Alot of bears up there, plus alot of hunters though. Okanogan County is hunted really hard by west siders.. I know it sounds bad, but its the truth.. If it were me, and since you live in cashmere I would hunt Mason area.

Thats why I posted what I did 509er, I wasn't trying to be sracastic.   I don't remeber dating many but I sure nailed a couple in the back seat that is....I wasn't exactly Mr. Popular in Brewster as I broke Brian Boesels nose in a fight during a basketball game....

I hunt the early season in Brewster and there is a bear down low that hangs out near the apple orchards below where we hunt
