touchet wolf pack?
« on: July 18, 2012, 07:49:42 PM »
Worked down the last couple of days and guys are saying there's a wolf hanging around touchstone a lot. One guy said there's 7 and a farmer said he saw 8 of them on his property. Any one know anything about these? I live in burbank so they're not far down the rd. Locals call them the touchet pack.

I believe they are being monitored, but there hasn't been any official pack designation of them as of yet.

No evidence of offspring maybe???

I think so Jack, if not the one hanging down in the Naches country, or a second in the Methow.   They are hellbent to keep calling that one the lookout pack though for political reasons.

I read somewhere that WDFW was going to spend some time this summer documenting Blue mountain packs.  I'm sure if they look hard they can find more than one ?

These wolves aren't even in the moutains! They're not far from the Columbia! Nothing but foothills with little brush and a decent amount of deer.....

They've been trying for a while now. I know of legit efforts made 5 years ago.

The Touchet pack is confirmed on the WDFW map.

The pack that isn't confirmed is the one Eyeguard found in the Wenaha while spring bear hunting. He has photos/video.
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Isn't that funny? There's certainly multiple packs in the Methow, if for no other reason than they insist the male is wearing a non-working radio collar, and the ones I saw were absolutely not collared.

I think they are going to try real hard to keep from getting to the magic number to soon so as to allow a hunting season. :twocents:

hirshey, not to throw stones, but the Touchet pack is just suspected. There are no confirmed wolf packs as of yet down there even though they should have two confirmed by now.

Thanks for keeping me honest... what I was attempting to state is it is on the map at least.  :dunno: which is more than some fairly well photographed packs can say.

Maverick is talking about different wolves... near the town of Touchet.

there are several areas in the blues that have multiple wolves staying in a relatively small area and then there are a few lone wolves seen travelling. There is one group of wolves not more than about 5 minutes out of dayton and they've stayed put for a couple of years now... and they've killed cattle. There is a suspected pack in the wenaha that's been seen by many people, including WDFW. There are suspected packs to north, east, and west of the wenaha as well as 2 confirmed packs to the south.

it's now safe to say, they've taken over the blues.

here's one of the travelers up there.
