bobcat: he couldn't purchase the tag be for he turned 16 because he hadn't received it in the mail to pay for it yet. He did get his any buck tag be for he was 16 and payed youth prices for that but the moose tag took longer to get in the mail so he had no way of paying for it be for his birthday. You don't just stroll down to the corner store and buy a moose tag in this state. you have to get it in the mail then mail your money to WDFW then you get your tag in the mail. He did every thing he could as soon as he could. NOT HIS FAULT!

I didn't think you needed the card before you purchased the OIL tags.  I thought you could buy them online after the drawing was certified.  :dunno:

OK, well sorry if I mis-spoke. My dad drew an antlerless moose tag 6 years ago and I thought he was able to purchase it online just like anything else, but I could be remembering that wrong. It wouldn't be the first time! Unfortunately, I have not been in the position of purchasing a OIL tag myself. So I definitely can't say with 100% certainty how it works.

Either way, he should have known with his birthday being right in the mix of things, that purchasing the tag after he turned 16 was a possibility. And that's the rules. I suppose if it isn't worth the $332 to him, he could declinle it and it would then go to an alternate.

i bet when you talk to the wdfw they will fix it, i  hardly ever agree with the stuff they do but the year my son who was a youth at the time drew a dilver dollar ranch youth any elk tag, well you had to wait for a phone call before you got to hunt, well the elk never came off the hanford res so he never got a phonecall, well after the season the wdfw calls and said since he didnt atleasdt get a phone we are giving him his points back, that was pretty awesome of them and it was somethn they didnt have to do, so i am guessing but i bet they make it right

I just got my grandsons moose tag in the mail today and we sent in as soon as possible. It;s not like the other permits moose takes time for them to issue you cards before you can send in. I have talked with him he has already scouted and has his place to stay so he will hunt. My feeling was if he drew as a youth he is a youth should be penalized by how long the state takes to issue the tag but thats just my 2 cents.

x2 or x3 its not the kids fault the state didn't get him the things he needed to purchase his tag before his birthday, if thats the case well no one with a summer birthday should put in for tags for their kids the year they are gonna turn 16  :dunno: :dunno:

x100 here... WDFW again are just being money whores... I would start with my local office, and then go clear to Olympia, and tell them at every step that 7-8000 voting/license buying hunters are watching this with intense interest, to see how they handle it...  or do they enjoy screwing the youth hunters?????
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Im probably gonna get shellacked here for playing devils advocate, but I see a lot of people complaining about WDFW screwing them over, including myself from time to time. One of the few times I get to witness them playing by thier set rules.... And people are still getting screwed over. Ya its a bummer deal, but its in the regulations. My 2¢, pay the few extra bucks.... Chances are the kid will never draw one again in this state..... And at adult prices or not..... Its a bargain!

Im pretty sure the WDFW got together and out of the thousands of liscencees the said " Lets totaly screw this kid over and send his stuff after his birthday! "  Its in the regulations..... Which is the individuals responsibility to read and know. It is what it is, get over it.

The kid had his hunting licenses before he had his birthday the tag is a "youth" tag it should remain youth priced.  I would agree with tough nuts if they were buying over the counter tags and simply didn't get there in time....but this is tags already purchased special draws with special rules, so in this instance I think wdfw screwed up and should fix it and they have in other instances so....
