Bob is a good guy. His dogs are nice. Some people don't like the "sort of show, sort of field" breedings but, they'd probably make great hunting partners. I know Bob keeps up on the health clearances on his dogs so, they'd be a good choice if you're looking for a person who is a responsible breeder.

Thank you for the info. I have some concerns with the puppy contract and we are trying to work it out.

I just checked out their website. Sure appears they are good breeders and doing things right. I assume you are looking at getting one of the pups expected to be born on the 25Th? The parents are both good looking dogs and built right. I bet you are excited to get him or her home!

I talked to the breeder Bob Morris for the first time tonight. We had been emailing back and forth about a change to the puppy contract. We worked it out tonight. I have a lot of research on him and it looks like he is a top notch guy. I went to Cougar Mountain because his labs are English lines. There are other English line breeders but his breeding pair were both blocky looking which I want. A lot of the others had females that were a little pointy in the nose. I don't think there is anything wrong with that just not the look I wanted.

I also wanted white or light colored yellow female. His dogs have been throwing some of the very light pups. Again just my taste.

Also his dogs are doing a lot of different jobs. Which tells me they are very trainable. In the end its a crap shoot with a little edge.

I am excited , I have started rereading all my training books and redoing my kennel and dog house. We have cleaned out a corner in the dining room for a dog crate where pup will stay until I feel she is old enough to sleep out at night in her kennel.
And I have already picked a name. Now I am heading outside to do my yellow lab female dance in hopes it will cause a  litter that is 3/4 yellow females to choose from out of all black breeding pair.  :)

I didn't get my lab from Bob but he seems like a stand up guy.  The dogs look good and he is able to get them through the tests.  I wouldn't mind buying Judd.. That looks like a nice lab.

That dog has had a ton of training. He'd be a bargain for someone who wants a turn key dog. He'd probably be the best dog within miles of your blind-

Bad news. The litter I had deposit on was small and all black.

So the hunt is back on for the following,

YLF
Light or white in color
English lines
Blocky and tall as possible parents.
Reasonable Puppy Contract
I name my own pup
I pick my own pup
7-8 weeks at time of pick up.
One both parents hunt if possible or one generation back.
AKC  REg. Limited Papers
I have no intrest in breeding pup will be spayed.

Feel free to share my info

Too bad.  Good luck in the search for the right one.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Have you seen the pup Bob is working with named Topaz?  You may want to ask about her.  I went out in the field with him and watched him with her work.  That puppy has some serious power.  I am not sure if he is selling her or keeping her.

I still have a deposit with Bob. We have not talked about her.

I want to start with a 7-8 week pup with English lines. And I am looking for light colored yellow.

Ya I could tell after talking to him that he is one of the good guys. he offered my deposit back which many will not. I decided to let it ride and see what he comes up with.
If I find something elsewhere he will refund it. But my son just bought a house and he will be looking after he gets settled so he might use my deposit with Bob.
