Past Hunts Video
« on: July 20, 2012, 08:29:34 PM »
Me and a buddy put together this video featuring some of our past hunts and we thought you guys might enjoy it. We are not professionals at all  :chuckle: but I think it turned out good for our first video. We are all prepared with a new camera and a helmet cam as well in order to capture some hunts on film and hopefully a couple kills. I hope you enjoy it!

Good video!  Good use of slow-mo, pan, and zoom.  Excellent choreography!  A couple of the freehand shots could have benefited from a tripod, but that's not always feasible; most of the best video is spontaneous.  Very well put together!
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

It's a good video. Thanks for putting it up. Couple of suggestions. The music is kind of " aggressive". Many videos and shows are like that and I'm assuming it's to try and pump the viewer up. But for me it's the footage that get the heart racing. The music is more often a distraction then a plus.

More footage of the stalk, shots, or commentary would be great. I love it when the people on the film explain what their plan is or the ircumtance. I didn't mind the lack of clarity as you are not a full time filming crew and it just makes it seem more legit.

Don't take the above to mean I didn't like the video because I did. It was a fun watch and I'm looking forward to the next one you post.

Thank you! I appreciate it. We have totally upgraded all of our equipment and we are truly going to get everything on film this year. In the past we havent done any interviews or anything like that. Just always pulled the camera out after the kill. The videos in the future will be more like a hunting show instead of just a bunch of footage jumbled together. I appreciate the input! It really helps me get an idea of where I could improve. I would love to someday make a career out of this.

I liked it.  You did a great job of editing the footage to match the music.  I agree with some of the other posters that those of us that edit footage need to be careful not to overdo the music in our videos but your video has more of a movie trailer feel and it felt fitting.  Good luck this year capturing everything on video.  It sure makes the hunt a lot more fun in my opinion.

I agree with the commentating or some narrative on what the hunter is doing why they are there the setup etc..far to often you see shows jump right into the hunt.

Ya like I said earlier, this is just a bunch of after the shot footage I had from past hunts. In the future when I am actually trying to film the entire hunt, I will have commentary and during the hunt footage. This was just a fun little thing to try. I love the input though!
