Hey Sabotloader, thanks for the info! Unfortunately I seem to be encountering the same problems. I adjusted the screw on the back to several different settings and it seems to be the same trouble. When I slide the lever back and forth it seems to pull the clips inward so far that they are pulled free of the pin. It also seems that the clips are blocking the pins from sliding in the slots on the lever. I broke a clip and need to get to the auto parts store for a replacement. I'll try again tonight when I get back. Thanks again.
Guess I would need to see it - to really tell what is happening - but it does sound odd...
Is it possible the clips have been spread to wide to grab the post correctly?
I have one in my hand here flipping it back and forth but can not get it to even move the clips. UNLESS the safety lever can not move across the sear.
This is a pic that I used to show another member...

If you look in the bottom picture with the safety lever off... you can see I have the safety plunger laying on top of the trigger. With the trigger off the rifle like this you should be able to push the part in and out of the detent.
