Remington 742 .30'06
« on: July 21, 2012, 08:22:30 PM »
I picked up a very fine condition Remington 742 Woodsmaster about a year ago. According to the stamping's on the barrel, it was produced in 1960. The previous owner had taken very good care of the gun, as the condition show's of it. Tried selling it, but I couldn't even get back out of it what I paid. So next week is my boy's birthday, and that's what I'm giving him. I'm worse though than a kid on Christmas eve, i'm so anxious to give it to him. I own a shirt tail relative to that rifle ( Mines a 760 gamemaster, .270 ) and it's been a wonderful deer and elk outfit for me, and I think the 742 will be the same for him. Happy birthday Charly!!  Dad ( Bull )

Great guns. My dad started my brother and myself off with 742's and we still have them to this day, even though mine is a safe queen now. I'm sure your boy will love it!
The best friend a guy could have asked for. RIP chasing pheasants in heaven Denali girl.

Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

When I was younger, I had a good friend that carried the same rifle. Back when deer season and elk season used to over lap on the Clockum and any bull was legal. I watched him dump a bull with it and at the same time when he shot the bull he spooked a group of deer out of a creek bottom. It was bang! Bang! A five point bull and a two lint Mulie in the dirt.

Biggerhammer, a semi- auto would work out fine in a scenario like that! Tell your friend, great shootin'  Bull
