Which Species Can Be Shot With a Bow?
« on: July 24, 2012, 08:32:19 AM »
So I have looked in the regs and cannot find any specific info on bowfishing.  are carp the only species allowed to shoot?  if so what do you do with them? i heard they aren't any good to eat.

If the carp is coming out of good clean water you should give it a try. Scale, filet, cube it.up and bread and fry.

Carp are the only available species to bowfish, now that I'm thinking about it shooting frogs would be fun, anybody know if you can bowfish frogs? Anyways, eating carp is pretty bad but the best way i have found is hickory smoked on a plank of cedar for 2 days, then throw the fish away and eat the cedar! :chuckle:
Just tend your own and live.

Carp and bullfrogs are the only things you can bowfish. Bullfrogs are fun with a spotlight from the bank and the same goes for carp as well, I love spotlighting them   as a side note I never eat them, I did once and puked my guts out. My grandpa used to give his to a Mexican lady that would smoke them and can them in a salsa, he said it was great  :dunno:  I usually find a few Mexicans and hand them over, they are always happy to take them
