Question, I bought Weatherby 100 grn SP for mine to sight in. How will these perform compared to the hotrod ones you guys keep talking about ?

I've shot the 100 sp for almost 15 years now. Did you buy the really cheap ones, think they have norma boolits? They are loading some "cheap" stuff for both the 300 and 257 roy, economy loads so they say. Anyhow, I've shot the schitt outta whitetail, muleys, blacktail, bear, antelope and coyotes with the 100 grain hornady inter-locks, from20 yards, to over 500, every one of em failed according to todays standards, but everytime they made meat..................Right now!

I just bought the ones that were the Weatherby brand 100 grainers. I figured they would work since the are Weatherby. I might be wrong, but at least I have the brass...........
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Ya, I just looked in cabelas, they have some "sptz" listed for $35.00, the ones I've always shot are the "sp", they are listed for like $53.00, don't really know what the differance is??? Might be on Weatherby's site..

I know they are deadly on a paper target... :chuckle:.........I have 10 boxes of the 100 grn sp's, so I guess if I shoot a wolf with them, I'll find out real quick.

The SP is Spire Point. They are less money than the name bullets, but they shoot well and have killed many animals.

They're Weatherby ammo I bought at the Big R store. I thought it was "soft point " but these are "spitzer". I should of checked better.

Of all the factory ammo, the spire point rounds shoot best in my 300 Weatherby. I've killed plenty of elk with that bullet before I started loading for all of them. Great way to get brass AND get a decent round to hunt with. Love all my weatherby calibers and rifles.

The spire points shoot and kill great in both my 257 and 300 Roys, 100's in the 257, 180's in the 300. Been playing with a load in my 240 with 90 grain swift SSII's and H4831, showing promise...

Keep us posted on your 240 Mag, it's one of the only calibers I don't have. Always talked about, never purchased. I worked a great load for my 340 last spring, 185 Barnes TTSX and ReLoader 22. Shoots flat and hits hard.
