Costco Timber Ridge

So walking through the neighborhood Costco the other day... I spied some camo out of the corner of my eye. I have always wished Costco would carry some more hunting/camping gear (especially gear that goes Boom). When I investigated further, I found it to be a Timber Ridge Sol Duc Hunting Pack.

It has a Backpack with an advertised capacity of 2135 Cubic Inches and a detachable waist-pack of 610 cubic inches. It comes made for a hydration set up, but not bladder and no nifty hook for the tip of the hose like my Cabelas Scout Pack does. It has allot of places to hang stuff of of and some great pockets (including a couple that are held together using magnets. It feels like the Hush Quiet material that my rain pants are made out of. It is set up for a rifle carry (Through the backpack with the nifty fold away sling).

As I stated above the waist-pack is detachable, which is one of the reasons why I like it. The waist-pack is REALLY padded as well as the backpack.

So being that I was in Costco and I only had $60 bucks worth of crap that I already didn't need. AND being that leaving Costco without spending $100 bucks is simply unheard of, I bought it for $43 bucks.

I haven't had any experience with this company, but just packing and unpacking it it seems pretty solid. I really like the fact that the waist-pack is detachable. My previous waistpack was VERY uncomfortable slung over my shoulder and under my opposite arm, but this one is actually pretty nice. The backpack is larger than my current Cabelas one (great, means I will be packing more merde with me) but it seems to ride really well.

Anyone else have any experience with this company or even this backpack? I have the tags still on it (not that I need to), as I am still undecided if I want a new pack or even if I need a new one. I know that badlands sells a helluva pack, but like I said I am not sure if I need one or want one. This wass more of an impulse buy THEN do the research.... Any thoughts or opinions?

I work for Costco. Not sure what store you are at but there is more outdoor stuff  lately then I have seen in my to many years working for them. I think one of our buyers is a outdoorsman. I have not found that out yet but will. Problem is if it does not sell he could be told not to get stuff like that anymore.
The federal way store also has walkers ear protectors. Those are pretty cool, They have the hearing enhancement system.

Maybe they are banking on the fact that outdoorsmen are the one segment of the population that still spends money!

I got a small backpack a few years ago when I couldn't fit enough stuff into pockets and a fanny pack.  Less than $50--Best money I spent in a long time!

I picked up a Steri-Pen at the Covington Costco a few months ago. Great for backcountry hunting. Also my step dad said he saw they had a backpacking tent/bivy yesterday.

I got a camo Browning jacket from there for like 80$ then i found the same jacket at wholesale sports for close to 200$.

If they're smart this has been planned for a long time. They know when outdoor people will be buying this stuff. They know that camo in the late summer sells like hotcakes. It only makes sense to give it a try now. Let alone all the hunting related shows that are on the air right now. I'm sure there was more thought into this than just having an outdoor oriented buyer. It makes really good sense. Unfortunately I can't justify costco membership so I just get to drool over the steals people talk about sometimes.

Saw them there yesterday at the Lacey Costco, I bought a different model backpack by Timber Ridge there last year in an Oregon Costco for 35 bucks and there was no tax. Used it this last deer season and I loved it, it held more than I thought it would.

they also have them at the Covington Costco along with some nice outdoor easy chairs and camo camp chairs.  Since we're on the Costco kick look for the 3 pack of little led flashlights for $20 bucks.  They are by far the most AWESOME little flashlights for the money you'll ever use.  I've bought 3 packs and have them stored all over the place.  Just my

On clearance at Puyallup Costco right now!  They're 2 units lighter as of tonight    The shelf says $43, but they rang up $25 each!

Gig Harbor still has a HUGE box of these.... Kind of surprising actually. I would have picked up at least 2 more at that price for Christmas gifts!!!
