Already said, apples and alder leaves.  The bucks are making their rounds past our fence every day to look for the apples that are falling early off our trees (we chuck them over for them).  One even came by yesterday afternoon about 2:00 in the hot sun to look.  We will sometimes put out Allstock from Del's which they seem to like and has a high protein content (more so in fall and winter though).

Alder branches. It is pointless for me to put out apples because the bears eat them way before the deer get to them  :twocents:

They'll come right in for the alder, especially if they hear the tree come down....  I tossed a bunch of apple branches over the fence this evening, i bet there won't be a leaf on them by morning, maybe even cleaned off already.......

Just went up to the bedroom and shined the spotlight out, sure enough, a beautiful wide three point was out there eating already.  I tried to sneak out for a photo but was just shy of the fence when I heard him bound off.  I guess it is time for the trail camera to get put out on the fence.

I have been using wet rations, throw out some apples and even pumpkins. They devour the rations. I also throw out a mineral block. My experience has been just the regular mineral block not the one with selenium.

I've been told to stay away from any kind of syrup blocks on the west side as it can attract bears to the location, causing issues. Anyone with experience here?

Yes. You are correct....a sweet bait block is like a big fat granola sugar cube to a bear. They will eat a block in less than a day.
