Waterfowl Competition UPDATE
« on: August 15, 2008, 06:55:22 PM »
*2008-09 Waterfowl Competition*

*You will need to register your team by September 25th to SilkWWU in a PM, teams will consist of two people.

*Teams consist of two people.
-If you do not have a partner to hunt with, I suggest getting one or being ok with only having the point maximum of one limit.

*All Washington State Hunting Laws-Federal Regulations must be followed.

*Teams will be on a running tally of points throughout the year.

*Every Sunday for ten weeks, one person from your team will post your team scores, including pictures, and descriptions of your limit.  IE:  We killed four ducks, two mallard drakes, 1 bufflehead drake, and 1 hen mallard (Picture Must be Included!)

*Point system breakdown to follow!

*You may report a maximum of two days per competition week (one must be a Saturday or Sunday--both may be used, but at least one reported day has to be a weekend).

*East and West will be combined into one point system.

*There is no monetary reward for this tournament, but there will most likely be a traveling trophy.

*Also, there is a lot of "honor system" that goes into reporting, I encourage everyone to hunt ethicaly and report ethicaly.

More Details To Follow!

Do partners have to be members?  Sounds like it will be fun even though I know I will get my ass kicked.

No the partners do not have to be members (but come on how hard is it to sign up) but you may only have one partner throughout the year.

I'm sure I've got my partner lined up, just waiting for confirmation.

I don't think there's a duo out there that rivals General Disarray and Professor Chaos.  Bring on the season!
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

When you get your partner, please send me confirmation through a PM so I can add them to the list.  Thanks.

Are there going to be bonus points if the birds are taken with a muzzleloader? I just picked up a Knight KT2000 and am looking for an excuse to keep it. LOL  Also, when does the 10 weeks start, or is it any 10 weekends throughout the season?  Just wondering , because of deer-elk seasons I usually don't get serious until Thanksgiving or so. Are out of state hunts going to count ? Sounds like fun, I just have to line up a partner that can shoot. That eliminates most of the guys I know. Maybe I'll scout out the trap club next week and look for a ringer!!

hahahhaha, unfortunately not.  This is a Washington Hunting competition.  Oh, I should make that apparent.  Any out of state hunting will NOT be counted.

Yes, but I don't think you can increase your bag limit with him. :tung:

It's going to start October 11th, first weekend of the month.  I was originally going to do 8 weeks, but you will just have to work around deer/elk.  I know I'm going to be missing two weekends because I'll be at Elk camp, so I added two additional weeks.  But remember, you can do night hunts during the week after work!  (Thank god I have Tuesday's Wednesday's off!

I could win this thing by shooting 25 coots a day....they don't call me Mossberg-mudhen for nothin!  Anybody got any good coot recipes?  That trophy is mine....

On a serious note.... state waterfowl possession limits should be recognized.  Eat what you kill...don't just kill for points... :twocents:

Here is a good coot recipe!
Take your coot and breast it out.  Take a 2.5 gallon bucket and put the coot into the bucket. Then take a $#it in the bucket.  Wait two weeks throw the coot out and eat the $#it!  ENJOY! :chuckle:

Sooo, when is the 10 weeks up? If it's a running 10 weeks that puts it early Dec. which would cut off the last 6-7 (and usually most productive)weeks of the seaso. And any brant, snow goose, and maybe even sea duck hunters looking to score would potentially be left out. And I'm still searching for a partner who can shoot lights out and has an endless supply of ammo. Oh, there's not an ammo limit is there?
