Waterfowl guide/trip suggestions?
« on: July 29, 2012, 06:09:13 PM »
My uncle from NY is an avid waterfowler and is coming out this way to hunt. He wants me to figure out somethhing to do...anyway I'm not much into the ducks I'm looking for advice. I'm thinking maybe some seaducks? Something different than what he has back east. Cost is not too much of a factor. Lets hear it. We are looking for a guided trip. I don't have gear and he s not bringing his.

I had the most fun seaduck hunting when we went with Ben Getty in 2009, Addicted used him twice, Looks like his website is down so not sure if he is still doing it. Getty NW Guide Service I think is what he went by on here.
When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

I've heard Dave won't guide in state hunters. Never spoken to the man so I don't know that for a fact.  May want to have your uncle book the hunt if decide on him.

Dave only guides out of state hunters and does not do 1 day trips.

Getty folded up and the bank took his boat.

If you're set on seaducks, ask your neighbor to take you.

For an easy mallard hunt, er shoot, i'd suggest Paul's Pond / Burbank Guide Service.

LOL.  Your naybor has a NICE covered deluxe boat for shooting the scotards out of.  He'll probably cook you breakfast between barrages.

Mardon is also a great option as mentioned.

I hunted with the guys from Burbank Guide Service about 10 years ago. It was pretty good back then and have still been hearing some good stuff. They had a few to many people when we were down there on our trip. I think they had 3 groups out in 1 field. Only 2 of the groups got much for shooting. One of them was our group, so we were happy. The other 2 were not very happy, think one group got 1 and the other got 3 or 4 birds. I know they take a ton of people each year, mabye it's got better but there was a bit to many on our hunt.

His boat was repossessed, so he may no longer be in business.  I believe Avery purchased it and sent it back to Steve at Duckwater for repairs and possible sale.

Yeah Ned already said that sorry to see any small business go under, tough times we live in.
