Cant wait for tomorrow
« on: August 01, 2012, 04:08:22 PM »
I check out with my command tomorrow at 0900, and soon as its over I'm headed up to the mountains :IBCOOL:  I will have from then until the 29th to hunt with no work to worry about, I think I am going to enjoy weekday hunting :chuckle:  Anybody have luck with fawn in distress yet?

Not with fawn distress calls, at least for me. I use mostly squalling cub calls, like, I'm hurt mom, come and help me. I have a friend that swears by crow calls. If you're gonna call, just wail on the call until you turn blue in the face, catch a breath and keep calling. Bears are really silent, so keep a vigilant eye open in all directions. Best of luck.

Thanks   Last year I found out how silent they can be, while yote hunting had a little boy come in behind me.  I smelled him before anything else.  I will be using a E caller due to the thick vegatation, and plan on sitting 50 yards away from the caller.

Put 12 miles under my boots and didnt see anthing but a rabbit and cougar scat.  TOns of berries but due to all the recent logging it seems all the wildlife has moved out.  I did a lot of glassing on top of ridges, walking into berry patches and still hunting to calling at the end of the day.  FOr you bear callers, do you think my sound sequence will work?

I think it would work. I've called many times with nothing showing up. Just keep at it.

Went out last night and we called in a bear! My first one after several attempts. I was using a jack rabbit distress hand call. Got him to 50 yards and he came in slow. We let him pass, beautiful bear just not very big. I am addicted to callin bears now :chuckle:
