Second. Last week always has better rut activity. Plus, alot of guys burn out after the first week and bail, which helps with the pressure. It was even more noticeable when the season was the 8th-21st.

Or first day if you have a good spot like some people do.

I'm most likely going to be out both weeks. I'm taking leave for it. I don't care if I gotta pack in my 40 lb family sized tent to do a solo elk camp. It's happening!

Going to try and make it 3 weels for me. First two trying to kill a dandy bull. If that doesn't work out I'll be in the Toutle the third week looking for a cow.

I have all season off so I will be there the whole time. I usually spend the first 4 days calling for others then the first weekend my son (8 this year) comes and hunts for a couple days with me then the serious stuff starts

Hey bucknbull, I think your referring to the wrong season. Shooting AT an elk doesn't count. Finding it and putting a tag on it is a different story.  :dunno: Our Sept. 7th-16th trip will be here before we know it. I can't believe it's only a month away. At least I won't be having to put a fuel pump in the pickup on this year's trip. At least I hope I don't have to.  :chuckle:
