I have a reloading question

I just started reloading. I was just curious how many of you guys just neck size and how many do a full length resize?

I do neck only.  Only time I do full length is if the brass was from a friends rifle or I am switching a batch of brass from one rifle to another.

If I know that it's been shot out of my rifle only, then I neck it.  If in doubt, full length it.

Neck sizing keeps the brass from work-hardening as quickly.  If the piece of brass is going back into the same bolt gun or single shot, just neck size it.  Save the lube needed to FL, and save the extra stress to the brass.  Of course, if it's going into a semiauto, definitely gonna wanna FL.

That said, I only get about 2 loadings with only neck sizing in my 300WM before I get a sticky bolt closing, so then I have to FL it.  I have some .270 that are on their 9th reload with just neck sizing......  It's mainly about the individual rifle.

For most of my ammo, I full length resize.
In my 338Lapua, I neck size only.

I full length size gas gun/ semi-auto stuff and just neck size everything else, if it's being fired in the same rifle. If I'm firing it in another rifle, I full length size it.  I full length size after annealing brass, then go back to just neck sizing it afterwards.

There is also the option of partial resizing.  Essentially using a FL die to neck size

Mostly neck size only for bolt actions . I full length for my 30:30 levers .

I neck size most of my ammo BUT if you intend to share your bullets with other hunters in camp then you best full length size them ...thats the only down fall of neck sizing , they are only going to fit in your gun not theirs ...if your after tighter groups and do not plan on sharing bullets then I would neck size them

I neck size if I already have the die. If I don't then I don't worry about paying for just a neck sizing die unless I see one for a steal. Way too many other cool things to play with imo

I FL size all hunting ammo.  FL sized ammo is much more likely to feed properly in the event your chamber isn't perfectly cut and the cartridge doesn't go back in EXACTLY the same way it was when you last fired it.

I neck size some of my rifles, like my 204. Last year a buddy grabbed on of my shells and fired it out of his gun... It got jammed in there and had to be removed by a gun smith. Just an FYI. I still neck size the guns that I can, and my buddy now knows better than to touch my stuff!

If the brass is only going through one gun just neck size.. If multiple guns are shooting the reloads you got to full length resize..
