Browning 30-06 problem

We were shooting the Browning 30-06 x-bolt and after a shot the bolt just locked, totally not moveable.  nothing we could think of changed it.  the bolt release did not work, the trigger seems locked, the safety is stuck in fire position.  we have no idea what could have happened,. this has never occured before with any gun.  Of course, since we dont want to mess around with this and completely ruin it, we will take it to a gunsmith, but what do you think could have happened?

My first thought.  Seen it happen when some kind of grit got stuck on the brass.  When fired it got pressed into the chamber wall like a pin.

Were you running reloads or factory ammo? With factory, I would guess a rifle malfunction, broken trigger or firing pin.  Reloads, an ammo problem, most likely over pressure.

it was Remington Core-Lokt.  if it is the pressure against the brass, wouldnt I at least be able to budge the bolt (I mean, I shoulde be able to begin to budge the brass shouldn't I)?  It will not move, and I am a strong guy!

May be a mechanical problem if the bolt won't even rotate up, allot of times even with a over pressure issue you can rotate the bolt up,  the issue is getting it back. In that case we have found it better to slide a steel rod slightly smaller than the bore down the barrel until it is against the back of the case and give it a stout whack. Some CLOWNS decide to beat on the bolt handle, this may work sometimes but in some cases they break their bolt handle off   . I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the X-Bolt. Can the bolt be worked with the safety on? If not then it could be a mechanical failure in the trigger also, even though the safety is still in the "Fire" position.

Maybe it's just a piece of crap You might want to cut your losses and get out of it now. I will gladly take the problem child rifle free of charge and even cover the shipping, of course that shipping will only be one way.
