Wader repair
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:39:10 PM »
What have you used to fix a small, under quarter inch, hole in the heel of your rubber boots on your waders?  I tried a patch but there is to much flex and movement in the rubber on the heel to hold up.  I tried some epoxy but was not thinking.  It dried hard and stuck insanely well to the rubber but cracked like crazy with the first step, zero flex at all in the epoxy.  So, now I am back to square one.  I was thinking about going to Lowes and trying to find the tool handle dip rubber coating stuff.  Anyone tried it?  What else could I try.  I really dont want to spend another 200 bucks on waders.  These are only two seasons old and doing really well, besides the tiny hole in the heel.

Shoe goo and aqua seal suck. This is the stuff you need.

It takes about three days to cure but it is permanent. It remains flexible and the stuff does not peel. I even patched the sole in my hip boots and it is still going strong after two years of hard use on the trapline.

I use aqua seal.  I haven't tried shoe go.  My waders are covered with patches by season end.  Black Berries work them over.
Cut em!

I ended up using shoe goo.  Put a couple of layers on them then wrapped the whole boot in gorilla tape, lots of it.  If it doesnt hold and leaks I will get new ones.  I have abused these insanely and am happy to only have two tiny holes in them after 2 seasons.  We shall see how long they last into these season.  Thanks for the info.

I'm telling you NP-1 is the miracle shoe repair. Shoe goo won't last. Believe me I've been down that road.

Aqua Seal to fix the hole, then buy a new pair.  Keep the repaired ones for backup.
