I would guess that most assault rifles would be too small of a caliber to be very effictive for killing bears.......hence the need for 10 shots.  It is the shooters fault for choosing too small of a caliber and probably poor bullets as well.
I don't know much about assault rifles, but can't you get them in .308?

Sure, 30/06 too, and 338 Win Mag, in a Browning BAR or Remington 742. That is if you choose to call those rifles assault rifles. They're semi-autos so I suppose they meet the definition.
Like I said, I don't know much about them, just thought you could get them in bigger calibers.

Yeah, either do I. At least I'm not quite sure what exactly constitues an "assault rifle."

Was the bear struck with all ten shots? Or were 10 shots fired, two shots actually hitting the bear?
