contact rainshadow, he can help you out, he has what you need, since traspping is gone right along with hounds, oh wait a minute you can live trap him, i just so happen to have a live trap big enough for the big mountain puma, pm me i can sell it or let ya borrow it, but just to make sure it is legal to live trap them right?

Not legal to trap them. If you accidentally catch  one you must release it. Only furbearers and unclassified wildlife may be retained.
I'v had talks with WDFW about making trapping a legal method of take for cougar. Not going to happen.

There are several methods:

- Local bar at happy hour.  :chuckle:

on a more serious note:

- Calls
- Find a kill to watch
- Bait
- Cougar Urine and scents
- Walk down fresh tracks in snow
- Lucky Sighting

Bearpaw, what would you use for bait? I always thought cougars prefer live game. Maybe a goat tied to a tree? :)

As most of you probably realize, baiting for cougar is not illegal and I know that cougar have successfully been baited in Washington in the past.

I would first check with WDFW, I think goat or sheep carcasses in the right location would work fairly well. When I see someone raising sheep or goats in the right locations I know it's only a matter of time until they have cougar problems. The key is placing the meat where cougar will find it, that means a place/area that they frequent.

Do it in the winter so you avoid having bear problems.
