Ya, the goat tag is by draw.... We hunt Dillon area, which doesnt have the best of all odds or the most permits.  Just love the area and its not too far from home. Regions 4-7 areway more popular, more critters more tags... And more hunters.  We usualy go first week of november, and in a week of hunting usually see only a dozen or so other hunters

I got up at 3:30 am and got 4 muledeer doe tags this morning for my wife and I.  Early birds got some tags this morn  :IBCOOL:

We originally canceled our trip thinking there would not be any surplus tags left.  We're hunting 640 for muledeer does.  Where are you going?

I love taking more and more of my hunting $'s out of WA each year.

Awesome!!  Good luck, shoot straight.

I've never hunted MT before.  I have hunted NM & AK ; so looking to see how MT stacks up.  Eventhough you pay more for out of state, one season is like a lifetime of hunting here in terms of game seen and killed.

I think its around 75 bucks for a NR doe tag, about the same as a resident second deer tag in WA.

Is that it or is it one of the $500 NR licenses and then tags are $75 each?

I think you can just by the tag and the conservation permit for $10? Hopefully some of these guys will chime in, I get a huge discount for being a non res student and never really paid attention to it.

Antelope is 200, wt or md doe are 75. The either sex deer is 593 I think, either sex elk is 773, deer/elk combo is 996.   Its not cheap by anymeans, but the overall experience makes it worth it  :twocents:

Do you know where your planning on going yet? are you guys going for bucks/bulls or surplus meat tags like Roy and I? Also, back in the day my dad used to take me to Zortman area for prarie dog shoots, although they are just about everywhere.

So, I can order doe tags for $75 apiece and just go shoot them?

Thats what I'm seeing on the fwp site. Theres a couple of units that are OTC for second cow elk tags for $230. Might be worth it to someone who has never shot an elk, add in a couple of doe tags and you've got a whole lot of shooting and a full freezer.
