Bucks have disappeared
« on: August 06, 2012, 11:34:25 PM »
I had two big 160 and a 190 whitetail on trail cam my setup was near a small creek now that the creek has dried I haven't gotten one pic of either bucks but still got pics of all the others. I was wondering if big bucks like that have a cycle or pattern or just where ran out of the area or went for more water. Any input? Thanks

Maybe their antlers hardened up and they headed back into the thick stuff.   :dunno:

salt is not a consistent attractor from mid July on... now if u had out feed and they disappeared I would guess they moved into their fall home.. my guess is they are still there

Another possibility is that they have learned to avoid your cams. Were you getting pictures of them at night? Did the flash ever seem to bother them?

:yeah: and mass quantitys... no need to chop apples up either. The deer do a great job of that. I have been going through 120+ lbs apples a week and 100+ lb sweet cob a week. At only 2 sites.

I think bucks go into seclusion when the velvet starts to come off.  That probably causes an itch that takes their mind off of food.  After that, their minds are on something else!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Where do you buy that much apple and sweet cob for a reasonable price?
