I'm guessing this is cub scat?
« on: August 09, 2012, 09:35:54 PM »

Didn't figure it was big enough to be a big bear.  We saw 2 piles.  One was so dry it felt like air.  This one was also dry but still had about half of the heft to it from what you'd expect it to weigh.  Any guess how old it was based on my crappy description?

Tons of what I know is coyote scat all along the road.  I'd say there had to be a dozen yotes in there.  Just thought this was bear scat based on the pics I see on here and all the berry seeds

Coyotes like berries too, much easier to "catch" than a live animal.

It could be bear scat but most of the time what people think is little bear scat is normally just coyote poo.

Well, damnit again.  I obviously have no idea what I'm doing with bear so I'm not wasting another drop of gas on the damned things.  More for you guys.  If I see one while hunting something else that's fine but I'm not chasing them anymore

don't throw in the towel yet it takes time and they are not easy to hunt... anyone who convinces you they are must have super powers or live where they can bait and hound  :chuckle:  Many people have spent many years trying to get a bear.... I am on year 4....3rd serious season last year I just didn't have the money or time to hunt bears so only scouted.  I know eventually the plantes and stars will all be in the right alignment and I will succeed....
