How close can I get?

Ended up getting 3 yards before he had enough and walked about 10 yards away.

All the same deer.  There was a yearling spike with him too but as soon as I got within 20 yards, he was gone

I found a buck like that up near northbend  so close that I couldn't get his whole body in my cell phone . then come late season i think a niegbor in the area wacked him went into the area and found a gut pile .

Three yards?  Even with some wet side brush between you and the blacktail, his front foot could knock your nose clean off your face before you could say oh sh--.  You never know which way they wil react at close quarters.
