Calling sounds

Im headed out in the morning to a spot with a ton of torn up logs. I have my Johnny Stewart Preymaster and i just got a new sound card for it. I bought it because it has bear cub distress on it. Another sound it has on that card is calf distress, by calf they mean moo cow calf distress. I like the sound of it but was wondering if you guys think it would work? There is cattle in the area, tho i havent seen them in that exact spot this year.

Out of all my sounds the best ones i have are cottontail distress, fawn distress, goat distress, calf distress, and bear cub distress. What sounds do you think would work the best for my best chance of bagging my first bear?

fawn got us lots and lots of pissed off does, and one cougar  cottontail called some birds, a hawk and some crows and ravens

I have called them with fawn distress and just my voice. I know guys that have killed them with a ton of diffrent sounds. It takes the right bear at the right time to come to the call. I have called areas that I know had bears in them and not called them in. They don't always come to calls and can be tuff to get.

Bear cub distress  + bear spray for the angry mother bears

I would use fawn distress, and try to stay at each stand for at least an hour, an hour and a half is even better if you have the patience.

The call on the right i called a bear in last thursday with elk and cub squals and Raspy Distress. Not a good enough sh so i didnt take it. Leaving for the eastsine in a bit. Bought another big cooler. Will be using a bunch of my custom call's Deer Distress and Raspy with closed reeds i did special. Bought my first video camera going to do some calling how to for you tube. Have many requests for demo's. Rick

Haven't shot a bear yet but have gotten them close in the thick stuff using fawn distress and calf distress mainly. Headed east in a couple hours to set up my tree stand for deer and do a little calling/hunting for yogi!

Try a coyote pup distress if you get bored....works for me sometimes.

Just try different sounds on different stands, find out what works for you. Right time, right bear right sound is needed.

How quickly do you switch sounds?  Do you use fawn for an hour and try a different sound somewhere else or will you fawn for 20 minutes, rabbit 20 minutes, cub 20 minutes, etc?

we ran fawn for a good 45 minutes per set same with cottontail then did some cub bawl/squalling...... I was told to try and keep it up for at least 45 minutes, since I have a handy old e-caller that helps.... I know there are at least two sows with cubs in the area so have been hesitant to use too much cub bawl no point calling the sows in

I will try one type of stand for one set. I will try another type of sound on the next stand...etc..

HOWEVER, sometimes I will try to make it sound like a scenario....ie, a group of yotes have a rabbit or fawn....then...I will switch to a pup distress...its worked before.

I use the bear cub distress and fawn distress on my Fox pro. Both work great.
