Ya, hogsniper and I have exchanged some info...but to be completely honest, very little of it was "new news" to me. I've been hunting Skagit and Whatcom county since I could walk. I suspect the same is the case for hogsniper...

I've been seeing him/his rig all over these mountains lately...never would've even known it was him until he posted a picture of himself and his dog(s) on the forum a couple months ago.

Hogsniper's girl friend was telling me how she was excited to go after she got off of work Sunday evening. I was thinking the 85 degree weather would keep me close to a road. Hopefully his girl friend was there and is hooked for life. Hopefully she was not on the wrong end of a 100 pound pack with 5 miles of up hill to the truck :) That would ruin my wife for life. Congrats buddy. Lets see some pics and hear the story.

Good shots Hogsniper, man. I rarely see bear in the backcountry (although one of my buddies shot one with a bow today packing our elk camp in).  I can rarely find them above timberline.  It looks like I need a different drainage?

Nice work, that is an inspiration to us all to take some photos.

I was hoping this would die down already!!!

But anyways I had been seeing a lot of bears out and about and keyed in on one little blue berry patch that had the only ripe berries in town. So i headed in there on a monday and saw three bears. 2 small ones and jumped another that I couldnt tell how big it was. Had to work a few days and then headed back in the same place on a thursday with a buddie. We had hiked a ways when I hear something and see movement about 30 yards infront of us. It was coming right for us so we held our ground. It came to within about 8-10 yards and smelled us and quickly fed away. Only saw a couple patches of black the whole time and it was the end of that hunt. So on that saturday me and my girlfriend head up into the same area and look around for awhile. Got to a landing and looked off only to see the brush snapping and popping and this black blob coming right at us. I knew for sure it was a single bear and from the amount of brush moving thought it was a big one for sure. I wanted her to shoot it but she wasnt comfortable shooting off hand so i pulled out my .45 pistol and let him keep coming straight for us. At about 30 yards I saw a blur and then a front shoulder. Took aim and shot him. One shot it was all over. Right through the heart and blew up both lunges. Waited a few minutes and then went over to see what I had harvested.....In a couple days I will post pics for you all to see what it looked like...Its a beautiful bear.....

A picture.  Woohoo.  And that is why you carry a .45 and leave the puny 9mm for a back-up.
