In general, my family as well as the few buddies I can stand to hunt with pretty much hold firmly to fart rules.

Ya know, "He who smelt it, delt it!"
Same theory, only "He who "caught" it, keeps it!"

It's just expected that if you see the animal, and choose to take it...it is YOURS.
As far as seeing an animal--he who saw it first has first dibs. If there are multiple others in the part who desire that animal, and the one who saw it passes, it's paper rock scissors or we play the guilt game!
The same is true when we're fishing (where our phrase originally came about).

There is no expectation to share anything, other than memories.

Now, if one of your buddies ends up skunked, or loses a rod, or has to pack half your animal out 5 miles...there is an optional gratuity, which usually comes in the form of a bottle of Crown Royal, or some nice backstraps, or more often than not a big BBQ where we can give them hell all afternoon.

For elk, whoever shoots it keeps the antlers, shooter gets half then the other half is split up between packers that help.

That is the way we do it too.

There are 4 of us that all hunt together.  Whoever, KILLS the animal gets the horns, then all the meat is distributed evenly among everyone.  We make the distinction of who kills the animal, due to a dispute with some "family" member, a few years back, that said he shot that bull.  He sure did, right in the a$$.  He never saw the elk again, until my brother put it down for good, almost a mile away, and 3 hrs. later.  The "family" member, no longer hunts with us, even though he asks every year.  Just do not want the squabbles.  Been smooth sailing ever since.

It is more enjoyable and usually successful to work as a team. Most of the time I am hunting I am trying to get someone else the shot.

The way we do it is that the shooter keeps the trophy and then the meat is divided up equally between the hunting party. We almost always all get deer, so we keep our own deer, but elk and moose are divided up equally amongest the party.

Haven't done party hunting???  Anyhow, same as most, shooter takes horns, split meat with buddy. Exceptions are as follows: Tenderlions- Shooter, more important than the stinking antlers or horns....

I went with split the meat, but for the past several seasons, it has been either both kill, or no kill.  Most of my friends are stone-cold killers, nobody ever seems to be out of meat; last time I had an empty freezer was 1989.  If that happened, sharing wouldn't be an issue for any of us.

I usually just hunt with my Brothers and Dad, and the Kids, so the meat is split, If your with me when i get a Bull I give you one of the Ivories.

I hunted with my buddy this last archery elk season in the wilderness 3.5 miles deep. without him the meat would have spoiled, shared it with him. how could you not?

We've had as many as eleven guys in our elk camp. Mostly though it's about eight. After mid week it might be four or five. Here's what we do. Shooter takes half the elk. The rest is shared between the rest. We all agree. No fuss, no muss.  For deer, if you shot it and I help pack... just give me a package or two of steaks.

Usually keep the meat for myself, since I hunt alone, but the land owner will get backstrap and tenderloins at least once a month during hunting season.
