I got one last weekend. the 5000. I've taken it out once with about 40lbs on my back. I'm 5'10" 160 so I was looking for a pack that I could get tight around my waste (many of the packs I previoulsy tried were too big ). Anyway, I gotta say I think I really like this pack. It fits me (finally!). Also, I really like the side pockes on the belt and my favorite feature is the meat compartment that expands the pack out away from your spine so that the meat is tight against the spine (between the pack frame and the pack itself). This iswhere you want the heavy weight to be anyway. The sides of the meat compartment are mesh so it seems it will breath ok yet the pressure areas are not mesh so it seems pretty sturdy. Not so sure elk quarter will fit (deer yes) so you'd have to bone the elk quarter out or place the quarter on the outside of the pack using the compression straps. The pack also has a good spotting scope pockets and will fit a standard sized water bladder (compared to Badlands 4500 which requires a special sized water bladder). Lastly, I got mine at sportco for $309. I will say I've never seen this pack ANYWHERE for other than $389 so I was pumped. At this point I'll give it 4 stars until I acutally pack meat out this season
...then 5 stars.

Agreed, Tenzing is making some awesome packs for sure! I've personally used the TZ1250, 2220, and 5000, and they are all excellent packs. I took the 5000 on a family backpacking trip 2 weeks ago and had it loaded down and never had any issues at all with it. I can't wait to throw some meat in it in September! We posted some video reviews of the packs on Youtube:
Tenzing TZ6000 Hunting Pack Review - TZ 6000 - TZ 5000
Tenzing TZ1250 Hunting Pack Review - TZ 1250
Regarding the price...if you picked one up from Sportco for $309, consider yourself lucky! I don't think they are allowed to sell them any longer for violating Tenzing's pricing policy...but you are right, that is a GREAT deal on a great pack!
Elk101.com has the TZ5000's for the standard $389 price with free shipping ($199 for the 1250).
Many thanks,
Corey Jacobsen

I'm interested, are they made in china? Because I am getting tired buying of things made in china, bangladesh, sri lanka, or vietnam.
